Larry Gene Fletcher, a 79-year-old resident of Trenton, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 6:50 p.m. at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.

Larry was born January 8, 1944 to Floyd and Mary Fletcher in Des Moines, IA. Larry grew up on the farm fishing and hunting. After graduating high school, Larry joined the US Army and served in the Vietnam War.

After serving in the war, Larry returned to Missouri and met his wife, Anita LaRae Fletcher (Petrovic). They were married in Independence on November 14, 1965. Together they had three children and their family grew and grew from there! Larry and Anita moved to Trenton in 1999. Larry worked at Aquila as a pipefitter until his retirement. ‌Larry and Anita joined Dockery Chapel Church as members on September 16, 2001 and have since enjoyed the fellowship they have shared with friends and family.

Larry’s memory lives on with his spouse of 57 years, Anita; son, David Fletcher (Angie) of Independence; daughter, Maria Fletcher-Akers (Chris Kemp) of Cameron; daughter, Julie Williams (Brian) of Macks Creek; honorary daughter, Tina Fletcher of Independence; and granddaughter, Katherine Tabbert (Jacob) of Chillicothe. He is survived by 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mary Fletcher; brother, Troy Fletcher; nephew, Ronnie Fletcher, grandson, Jon-Jon Fletcher; and grandson Montana Akers.

A memorial service open to all family and friends will be held at Dockery Chapel on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. with a meal to follow for all to join.
