The Retired Elementary and Special Education school teacher’s love of life didn’t come to an end with his death. Dennis passed away in hospice on Sunday, January 7, 2024. His battle with serious medical issues in recent months showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. His loved ones will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He was born October 31, 1947 and was adopted into the loving arms of Max and Maradyn Oyler. After graduating from Trenton High School and Trenton Jr College, Dennis completed his Bachelors Degree in Business at Central Missouri State University. After he graduated, Dennis attended the Naval Air Station in Pensacola and became an officer and a navy pilot. When he found that teaching was his calling, Dennis went on to earn a Masters in Elementary Education, Special Education and Principalship at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette.
Dennis’ pride was in his students and he shared his passion for learning with hundreds of children over the years. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Dennis. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marilyn; a son, Chris; a daughter-in-law, Jill; a daughter, Katy; a son-in-law, Brandon; five grandsons, Kody, Max, Lucas, Alex and Michael; a sister, Leota; cousins, nieces, nephews and a yappy little dog named Daphne.
A short graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Simpson’s Campground in Woden, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations go to Mission Wolf at 13388 Co Rd 63 in Westcliff, CO 81252.
