J.R. Longstreth, age 87, of Olathe, KS passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Shortly after his passing, his loving wife, Mary Longstreth, age 76, of Olathe, KS passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024.

J.R. was born on July 7, 1936 to John and Evelyn Brassfield Longstreth in Grundy County. J.R. grew up on a farm in Grundy County and graduated from Trenton High School. When he first came to Kansas City, he worked for Structural Steel and was a reserve Merriam Police Officer and then became a reserve officer for Shawnee Mission Park. In addition to being a hardworking truck driver, it was evident to all he was a proud Mason and a lifelong Local 41 Teamster.

Mary was born on September 30, 1947 to Fred and Nada Olson King in Nashua. Mary held a lifelong career as a cherished secretary for the Shawnee Mission School District. She also took great pride in volunteering at Hallmark Kaleidoscope. During her career as a secretary and volunteer, she touched the hearts of countless students, faculty and staff.

J.R. and Mary are survived by their two children, Jay (Brandy) Longstreth and Kim Juergens; their grandson Cody Longstreth and granddaughter, Morgan Longstreth, her partner Marco Mobley and their children, Ezra Mobley and Giovanni Mobley.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Peace Baptist Church, 2300 Chestnut Ave, Kansas City, MO 64127.
