Mr. Johnny L. Egeland, a 90-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 3:48 a.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Resthaven Mortuary, Trenton. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, west of Mill Grove.

Family visitation will be held Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

Mr. Egeland was born January 19, 1934 at Mill Grove, the son of George and Ruth L. Fair Egeland. Before retiring, he was employed as an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed playing horse shoes, bowling, and card playing. He also taught several of his grandchildren to play the guitar.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was married to Mary A. Huffman, and she preceded him in death.

His survivors include four daughters, Cathy Hughs and husband, Tim of Newburg, Denise Hamilton and husband, Jr. of Trenton, Vicki Egeland of Kansas City and Carla Leffler and husband, John of Kansas City; one step-son, Jerry Chandler and wife, Maria of Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Thomas Egeland; two grandchildren, Timothy Jr. and Cara Hughs; one sister, Betty Booth; and one brother, Robert Egeland.

Memorials to either St. Luke’s Hospice or Sunnyview Foundation may be left with the mortuary.
