Wanda Pauline Stevenson Hughes, 62, of Raymore, MO, passed away Saturday,
15FEB25, at home being comforted by her loving husband Paul Hughes.
Wanda was born 17JUL62 in Milan MO, moved to Lompoc CA, made many close
friends, trained & worked as a model & as a cosmetologist while in high school.
Wanda™s parents & sister moved to Trenton when she was 16. Wanda stayed in
Lompoc with her friend™s parents, obtained a student aid computer operator job & top-
secret clearance at Vandenberg Air Force base in 1979, & graduated from Lompoc high
school in 1980. Wanda moved to Trenton, attended & graduated from the College of
Cosmetology 1982; worked at Lakeview, Gables, Elks Lodge, & Riverside Country Club
bartending, hosting/waitressing, managing complaints, dining rooms, money & waitress
schedules & training, and procurement. Wanda met husband Paul while tending bar at
the Trenton Elks Lodge in 1990. Wanda moved to Chillicothe in 1992, attended &
graduated from Grand River Technical School with Honors & a Business Technology
degree in 1996. Wanda bought, owned, & operated the Cedar Chest Consignment
Store in 2000 assisting many people in need. Wanda sold the Cedar Chest & worked at
Central MO Health Center in 2005, & Helping Hands of Goodwill in 2006. Wanda
created & organized the first BooFest. Wanda moved to St Joe in 2013, bought a
house & worked as: Manager at Goodwill, Check Into Cash, Lowe™s, Red Racks DAV, &
Labor Max Staffing. Wanda & Paul remarried 13JUN2000 & lived Seward NE until
DEC24.
Wanda is survived by her husband Paul Hughes of Raymore MO, sister Kelly
Stevenson of Trenton; 3 children Frank Stevenson of St. Joe, Krystal Nefferdorf of
Trenton, & Dylan Walker of St. Joe; stepchild Jared Hughes of Blackwell OK; grandchild
Jaxson Nefferdorf; & 2 step grandchildren Avalin & Myre Hughes.
Wanda™s life will be celebrated by family & friends at the Elks Lodge located at 1012
Tinsman Ave, Trenton MO from 1-6 PM Saturday 15MAR25. All are welcome.
